Perhaps you recognize her name as the gracious San Francisco Bay Area radio host, but long before she discovered the airwaves, Miranda, at the tender age of ten, learned to bake time-honored family recipes from her grandmother, Amelia Jackson, her mother, Bettie Austin, and her late sister, Ruth Ann Claiborne. They were hard working women, who, after a long hard day, ever so graciously took the time to make wonderful meals for their family. Oh, but, when they created those special desserts like homemade Sweet Potato Pies, Miranda says, "You could smell the spicy, sweet aroma wafting in the air a block away and we'd start running home! Those pies made an ordinary day seem like a holiday!"
This special homemade goodness is what we share with you from "Goodness Gracious Sweet Potato Pies!"
Our exclusive family recipe traveled from the Mississippi delta city of Canton to the hands of Miranda's great grandmother, Clara, to those of her grandmother, to her mother's hands, to her big sister's, and now to the hands of Miranda! Just like the women before her, she never forgets to add the most important ingredient: LOVE.
